Third gen F-Body LS swap fitment notes

  • The frame mounts and crossmember bolt into the factory holes of a V8 K-member, so no drilling is needed.
  • A car with a V6 K-member needs the engine set in place first, then the mount holes marked and drilled.
  • Tell us your transmission when you order. The crossmember is different for each one.
  • The transmission tunnel stays stock.
  • The kit is designed around the GM 1998-2002 F-Body oil pan.
  • With a T-56, a casting boss on the tailshaft needs grinding to clear the crossmember.
  • Plan on a different driveshaft length than the original.
  • Factory suspension and steering parts stay in place.

1982-1992 F-Body LS swap FAQ

Does the kit fit both Camaro and Firebird?

Yes. The LSX3 conversion kit is listed for 1982-1992 Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebird.

My car came with a V6. Will the kit still bolt in?

The kit was designed around the factory V8 K-member, where it bolts to existing holes. On a V6 K-member you position the engine, then mark and drill the bolt holes.

Which oil pan should I use?

The install guide says the kit is designed around the GM 1998-2002 F-Body oil pan. The F-Body Oil Pan and a pickup tube girdle are listed on this page.

Is the crossmember sold separately?

Yes. The 1984-1992 F-Body Crossmember is sold on its own, and the engine mounts and frame brackets are also sold as their own kit.
