1970 - 1981 F-Body LS Gauge Components

Gauge parts for a second gen Camaro, Firebird or Trans Am with an LS: a tach adapter that lets a conventional tachometer or shift light read an LS ignition that has no distributor, and an oil pressure adapter fitting for a traditional pressure gauge sensor.

  • For factory or aftermarket tachs
  • Sold without the BRP LS harness
  • Traditional oil pressure sensor

Conversion kit, crossmember, headers and tanks for these cars are on the 1970-1981 F-Body LS page. Gauge parts for other chassis sit under LS swap gauge components.

What each F-Body gauge part does

  • Tach Adapter: takes the distributorless LS ignition signal and turns it into one a traditional tach or shift light can follow.
  • Oil Pressure Adapter Fitting: gives the LS a place to thread in a traditional pressure gauge sensor.

Second gen F-Body gauge notes

  • The tach adapter here is the version without a harness, so the wiring to your tach is up to you.
  • Neither part is cut for the 1970-1981 F-Body alone. BRP lists the same pair for its other LS chassis.
  • The 1970-1981 F-Body install guide covers mounts, headers, oil pan and transmission fit, not gauges.

Part details come from the BRP product listings. Chassis notes are in the 1970-1981 F-Body LS install guide.

1970-1981 F-Body LS gauge FAQ

Will the stock tach in my 1970-1981 Camaro or Firebird work with an LS?

A traditional tach needs a conventional signal. The Tach Adapter reads the distributorless LS ignition and drives a factory or aftermarket traditional tachometer, or a shift light.

Is a harness included with the F-Body tach adapter?

No. This listing is sold without the BRP LS harness, for custom wiring.

How do I hook up an oil pressure gauge after the swap?

Add the Oil Pressure Adapter Fitting. It lets the LS accept a traditional pressure gauge sensor.
