1988 - 1998 2WD GM Truck LS Transmission Mount Adapters

Putting a late model GM gearbox behind an LS in a 1988-1998 2WD Chevy or GMC C1500? These four brackets bolt to the tailshaft of a TR-6060, CTS-V T-56, MG9, 6L90E, 8L90E or 10L90E so it can sit on a conventional transmission mount.

  • 6L80E and 6L90E clear the stock C1500 tunnel
  • Outer brackets mount tapered end to the rear
  • Both six speed manual brackets ship with hardware

Crossmember setup for the truck is in the 1988-1998 2WD GM truck LS install guide. Mounts, headers and radiators are on the 1988-1998 2WD GM truck LS page.

Choosing the C1500 bracket

  • Standard Camaro TR-6060 or CTS-V T-56: the black powder coated 3/16 inch steel bracket.
  • MG9, the high torque TR-6060 found behind the LSA in the CTS-V: its own bracket, hardware included.
  • 2009-2014 CTS-V 6L90E automatic: the 6L90E bracket.
  • 8L90E or 10L90E: one bracket covers both tailshaft housings.

1988-1998 2WD truck transmission notes

  • The guide says large case 6L80E and 6L90E automatics go in the C1500 tunnel with no tunnel work.
  • BRP lists a 2WD only Sure-Fit crossmember for 1988-1998 GM trucks that comes with a transmission mount and hardware.
  • Bolt the outer crossmember brackets to the frame first, then rest the crossmember on top of them.
  • A preload plate goes between the polyurethane mount and the transmission.
  • Leave every bolt loose until the engine and transmission line up, then tighten them all.

1988-1998 C1500 LS transmission mount FAQ

No. The 2WD truck guide says the large case 6L80E and 6L90E fit the factory tunnel unchanged.

Which way do the C1500 outer crossmember brackets face?

The narrow tapered end points toward the rear of the truck, per the guide.

Is the 2WD truck crossmember sold by itself?

Yes. The 1988-1998 GM Truck Sure-Fit Crossmember (2WD Only) is listed with a transmission mount and hardware.

Are these adapters for 4WD K1500 trucks too?

This page is for 2WD trucks. Four wheel drive trucks have their own BRP page.
