How an LS swap comes together

Conversion kit. Most Muscle Rods LS kits include frame brackets, motor mounts, a transmission crossmember with outer brackets, a polyurethane transmission mount and a hardware pack. LS swap kits
Crossmember and transmission. The transmission you pick sets where the crossmember sits. Adapters fit 6L90E, 8L90E, 10L90E, T-56 and TR-6060 tailshafts to the crossmember. Mount adapters
Headers. 1-7/8 inch mid-length and long tube headers made for each chassis, plus cast iron manifolds for many models. Headers
Oil pan. The pan has to clear your crossmember and steering, so each install guide names the pan its kit was designed around. Retro LS oil pan kit
Fuel system. EFI tank kits with an in-tank pump module, plus braided fuel line and regulator kits that run from the tank to the LS fuel rail. Fuel tanks and lines

Choosing LS swap parts

Start on your vehicle page. Parts there are matched to that chassis by year.
Choose your transmission early. It sets the crossmember position and which cooler line kit you need.
Check the oil pan named in your install guide. Depending on the chassis, kits are designed around the LH8, the 1998-2002 F-Body or the Moroso high clearance pan.
Pick a fuel pump for your power level. The 255 LPH tank kits support up to 550 hp; the 400 LPH kits are for supercharged or higher output engines.
Most headers are designed around a floor shifter. Column shift cars may need linkage changes.
Some installs need the starter, a valve cover or spark plugs removed to fit the headers.

It depends on the chassis. Each install guide names the pan its kit was designed around, such as the LH8 pan, the 1998-2002 F-Body pan or the Moroso high clearance pan for lowered cars.

Does my transmission choice change the parts I need?

Yes. The transmission sets where the crossmember mounts, and some transmissions need a tunnel change in certain cars. Mount adapters fit 6L90E, 8L90E, 10L90E, T-56 and TR-6060 tailshafts to our crossmembers, and cooler line kits are sold by transmission.

Which fuel pump size do I need for an LS swap?

Our EFI tank kits come with a 255 LPH pump that supports up to 550 hp, or a 400 LPH pump for supercharged or over 550 hp engines. Match the fuel line kit to the pump size.
