1968 - 1974 X-Body Nova LS Transmission Mount Adapters

LS swapping a 1968-1974 Nova or Ventura with a modern gearbox? BRP has four mount adapters here: one pair for the TR-6060 family of six speeds, one pair for the 6L90E, 8L90E and 10L90E, so each tailshaft lines up with a conventional mount.

  • Two manual and two automatic adapters
  • One adapter covers 8L90E and 10L90E
  • Crossmember uses factory holes per the guide

The 1968-1974 X-Body LS install guide lists every transmission the Sure-Fit crossmember has been tested with. Engine mounts, tanks and radiators are on the 1968-1974 Nova LS swap page.

Adapter facts

  • T-56 / TR-6060 bracket: 3/16 inch steel, CNC bent, finished in black powder coat.
  • The MG9 bracket is for the high-torque TR-6060 that CTS-V owners find behind the LSA.
  • The 6L90E adapter is sized for the 2009-2014 CTS-V tailshaft housing.
  • BRP designed both automatic adapters to bolt up with its own crossmembers.

1968-1974 X-Body crossmember notes

  • The Nova shares its crossmember with the first gen Camaro: the 68-74 X-Body Sure-Fit Crossmember.
  • Tested on the Sure-Fit crossmember: T-56, TR-6060, 6L80E and 6L90E, plus 4L60E through 4L80E, TH350, TH400 and more.
  • BRP sends mount spacers in a quantity that depends on your transmission.
  • No drilling: the frame mounts and crossmember brackets line up with factory holes.
  • With a manual, the stock clutch Z-bar does not carry over, and the driveshaft length will change.

1968-1974 Nova LS transmission mount adapter FAQ

Which crossmember goes under a TR-6060 in a 1972 Nova?

BRP sells one Sure-Fit crossmember for the 1968-1974 X-Body and 1967-1969 F-Body, and the guide lists the TR-6060 among the transmissions it has been tested with.

Is there an adapter for a 10L90E in my Nova?

Yes. The 8L90E adapter is described as fitting both the 8L90E and 10L90E tailshaft housings.

Does a Nova need tunnel work for a six speed?

The guide only gives tunnel notes for the 1967-1969 Camaro and Firebird, so it does not say for the Nova. Check your tunnel before you commit to a gearbox.
