1968 - 1972 A-Body LS Accessory Drives

LS accessory drives for 1968-1972 Chevelle, El Camino, GTO, Tempest, Cutlass, 442 and Skylark swaps. In these cars the frame leaves no room for low accessories: the BRP guide says high mount A/C and alternator brackets are required. Every drive here comes in three balancer lengths, and the A/C versions include the compressor.

  • High mount A/C and alternator required
  • Compressor included on A/C drives
  • Short, Medium and Long

Mounts, the crossmember, headers and EFI tanks are on the 1968-1972 A-Body LS page. Frame and pan notes are from the 1968-1972 A-Body LS install guide.

Short, Medium or Long in each name is the balancer length. Confirm which one your engine runs, then order that drive.

1968-1972 A-Body guide notes

  • High-mount A/C and alternator brackets are required to clear the 1968-1972 A-Body frame.
  • The BRP High Clearance oil pan is required to clear the steering center link tie rod ends.
  • That pan sits flush with the bottom of the front crossmember; an old LH8 pan drops about 1.5 inches below it.
  • Frame mounts and outer crossmember brackets bolt into existing frame holes.
