This 1967 Chevelle LS swap kit mounts an LS engine and transmission in a 1964-1967 Chevy Chevelle, Chevy El Camino, Pontiac GTO or Tempest, Oldsmobile Cutlass or 442, or Buick Skylark. When you order the Muscle Rods LSX4 kit, choose your body style (Hardtop, or Convertible / El Camino) and your transmission, because the crossmembers vary by type.

The frame mounts and outer crossmember brackets bolt into existing holes in the frame. The kit is designed around factory suspension and steering parts for steering clearance lock to lock.
Transmission options
Order options: T-56 or TR-6060, 4L60E to 4L70E, 4L80E or 4L85E, 6L80E to 10L90E, TH400, or Powerglide, TH350 or 4-speed. The factory clutch Z-bar will not work with the kit, and driveshaft length may change from the original.
Does my transmission need tunnel work?
Yes for most modern transmissions. The 1964-1967 A-Body has a small transmission tunnel, and the install guide says tunnel modifications are required with the T56, TR6060, 6L80E, 6L90E, 8L90E, 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L70E, 4L75E and 4L80E. The guide shows the tunnel being cut and opened, then closed with a filler panel that is welded or riveted in place and finished with seam sealer. OEM-type carpet still covers it.
Which oil pan works?
The kit is designed around the BRP high clearance oil pan. The Moroso high clearance or cast aluminum pan sits flush with the bottom of the front crossmember, which helps lowered cars. The older LH8 pan hangs about 1.5 inches below the front crossmember.
Headers, A/C and accessories
- High mount A/C and alternator accessory brackets are required to clear the frame.
- Headers are designed around a floor shifter. Column shift needs linkage changes or a cable shifter.
- Some header installs need the starter, valve covers or spark plugs removed.
