This 1st gen Camaro LS conversion kit mounts an LS engine and transmission in a 1967-1969 Chevy Camaro or Pontiac Firebird. Order the Muscle Rods LSX1 kit for an LS paired with a T-56 or TR-6060, 4L60E to 4L70E, 4L80E or 4L85E, 6L80E to 10L90E, TH400, or Powerglide, TH350 or 4-speed.

The frame mounts and transmission crossmember bolt into the factory mounting holes. No drilling or modifications are required. The kit is designed around factory suspension and steering parts. Some 1969 Firebirds used a different heavy duty steering system, and those cars may need Camaro steering components.
Transmission options
Pick the option that matches your transmission: T-56 or TR-6060, 4L60E to 4L70E, 4L80E or 4L85E, 6L80E to 10L90E, TH400, or Powerglide, TH350 or 4-speed. The factory clutch Z-bar will not work with the kit, and driveshaft length will change from the original.
Does my transmission need tunnel work?
On a 1967-1969 Camaro or Firebird, the 4L60E, 4L80E, TH350, TH400 and 700R4 need no transmission tunnel modifications. A T-56, TR-6060, 6L80 or 6L90 may need tunnel modifications.
Which oil pan works?
The kit and headers for these cars are designed for the GM LH8 oil pan. The BRP machined oil pan kit is for engines with variable valve timing or displacement on demand.
Headers, A/C and accessories
- To run A/C, use a top mount A/C bracket.
- Muscle Rods headers clear the factory A/C box, power steering box and power brakes.
- With a 4L80 and the mid-length headers, trim the bell housing tabs for header clearance.
- Some header installs need the starter, valve covers or spark plugs removed.
- Headers are designed around a floor shifter. Column shift linkage needs modification.
