GM late model engine swap kits for cars and trucks
The heart of the new drivetrain consists of a pull-out L83 Gen-5 LT series 5.3 engine and 6L80e six speed automatic transmission. This drivetrain is used in 2014 and later GM trucks and SUVs. They are rated at 355hp with 385 foot pounds of torque. With the addition of our 1 7/8" headers it is basically a "fuelie" 375hp 327. What could be better for a 57 Chevy engine swap? By the way, It happens to be 11.1 compression and have similar valve sizes as the old Corvette engine from 1964-65. Although, this one has aluminum block and heads, drinks cheap gas and averages 20 miles per gallon.
The Gen-5 engine is physically larger than all previous small block generations which creates a challenge in some chassis. This coupled with the mid- mounted accessories and electric fans requires the use of our 6 cylinder style radiator mounted in front of the core support.
The headers and after-market air cleaner assembly are the only components that do not look like OE GM parts even though they were made 60 years apart. Note the original heater delete plate on the firewall.
Our 1 7/8" long-tube headers in 304 stainless steel look and fit great, clearing both original and 500 series steering boxes.
The underneath shows a more hotrod look with long-tube headers tucked up flush with the bottom of the frame. Our fabricated aluminum oil pan is required to clear all new OE steering components.
Our engine mount a frame bracket design offers strong secure mounting while giving much more room for header clearance than conventional small block mounts and adapter plates.
Another look at our fabricated oil pan. Made specifically for this application it has a 5 qt. capacity and clearance for the steering center link at full lock.
A good look at the 6L80e transmission with crossmember and crossmember frame brackets. Also note the stainless steel band clamps connecting our headers to reducers with o2 bungs. These clamps offer the absolute best ground clearance.
You can see below the OE style 2" lowering leaf springs with lowering blocks, new shocks and brake lines, and the original rear end with 3.36 gears.
You then find Magnaflow X pipe and mufflers, and the original shortened driveshaft painted with the old-school barber pole stripe. Also our fuel line and regulator kit running the length of the frame.
Out back is our EFI tank with 400 LPH internal pump in the stock location with reproduction tank straps.
